Georgos Demertzis, born in Chalkida Greece, in 1958. He studied violin with Stelios Kafantaris and Max Rostal. He has extensively appeared as a soloist with the major orchestras throughout Europe and he has performed in numerous festivals around the word. He was appointed a visiting professor at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, U.S.A. He has performed and recorded most of the major Greek compositions for violin with Swedish record company BIS the entire Nikos Scalkottas’ work, as well as all of the violin works by Karl Nielsen. He is the founder of the New Hellenic Quartet, considered the foremost chamber ensemble in Greece.
